Karen Cynthia Barnes Ė a longtime resident of Monroe County, AL, and current resident of Orange Beach, AL, passed away at home, Monday, August 19, 2013. She was 58 years old.
Karen had fought Parkinsonís disease gracefully for over 30 years. Her sweet spirit is now at rest, but she will be missed by many.
Survivors include her parents Wilda and Bernard (B.B.) Barnes of Orange Beach, AL; 1 sister, Sherry Jung (Eric) of Orange Beach; 2 daughters, Samantha Bowen of Gulf Shores, AL, and Amy Ellard (Matthew) of Foley, AL; 1 grandson, Owen Ellard; 2 nephews Tyler and Conner Jung; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Karen had been a member of the Frisco City United Methodist Church and the Orange Beach United Methodist Church. She had served her community for many years as a nurse. She served patients with humility and love and treated each one as her own family. She continued to nurse the souls of those around her long after she retired from her position.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 10 to 11:30 at Johnsonís Funeral Home with the funeral immediately following.
